Connie Sanders first arrived on the Metropolitan State University of Denver campus in 2013 as the certifying official for Veterans Affairs. Over two years, she worked with nearly 900 student veterans, providing direct services and reporting enrollment and graduation statistics.
Although Sanders left the campus to serve as associate registrar for veterans and records at Front Range Community College, it didn’t take long for her to find her way back to MSU Denver. In 2016, Sanders became a Roadrunner once again, accepting the position of associate registrar for graduation and transfer.
After two years of overseeing graduation and transfer evaluation and collaborating with a wide variety of academic departments, Sanders was promoted to a two-year interim appointment as MSU Denver registrar following the departure of former Registrar Tim Tisdale.
During her tenure, Sanders wants to develop the registrar’s reputation as a friendly and knowledgeable resource that supports students from the time they arrive on campus through graduation and beyond.
“My hope is that we can elevate our level of service to students, faculty and staff by creating efficiencies, leveraging technology, enhancing service and streamlining processes that can be complex,” Sanders said. “These relationships are crucial to our success as a team, as a university and ultimately to our students.”
“Connie has great working relationships with people across campus,” said Lori Kester, associate vice president for enrollment management. “Her vast experience working in the registrar office and her ability to lead the team and step in when needed made her a good choice to lead the team.”
Sanders began her tenure as registrar Monday and will serve in the position through October 2020.
