Student Success BuildingOpen Enrollment is here again. From Nov. 1-21, all benefit-eligible Metropolitan State University of Denver administrative staff and faculty have the opportunity to review coverage options and make benefit changes for 2019 without experiencing a qualified life event. If it has been a year since you reviewed your current benefit elections, the Office of Human Resources encourages you to review your elections to ensure that they best meet the needs of you and your family.

Employees who wish to make changes or review their current benefits for 2019 can stop by the Office of Human Resources at SSB 310 from Nov. 1-21 between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. A member of the Human Resources Benefits Team will be available each day during Open Enrollment to meet with employees one-on-one. Employees can also call or send a question or comment to the Benefits Team for assistance.

In anticipation of Open Enrollment, here are a few things to remember.

Medical Plans:

  • There are no premium increases for medical plans.
  • There are no design changes to existing medical plans.

Dental Plans:

  • Anthem Dental Complete Network will replace the Anthem Blue Dental PPO and PPO Plus plans that are currently offered.
  • This will result in a decrease in dental-plan premiums.

Vision Plans:

  • Currently all employees and their dependents enrolled in one of the medical plans have a vision exam built into their medical-plan selection. Beginning Jan. 1, the exam will no longer be built in with the medical-plan selection. The vision plan will be a voluntary benefit that an employee can elect. The voluntary vision option will include the exam and materials.
  • 2018 Health Care and Dependent Care flexible spending account elections will not roll over to 2019. To ensure participation in an FSA for 2019, employees must make an election during Open Enrollment.
  • All employees will receive new health-insurance cards in the mail at the end of December to replace existing cards.
