Tips for efficiently saving your files

Use OneDrive for Business to provide convenience and added security.

keyboard close upAs a faculty or staff member at Metropolitan State University of Denver, you have access to secure online file storage through OneDrive for Business. OneDrive offers many benefits, including:

  • Access to your files from anywhere with internet connectivity
  • Private, shared and public folder creation
  • Up to 1 terabyte of storage
  • Document versioning so you can revert to previous copies of your files
  • Automatic synchronization with files stored on your computer
  • Seamless integration with Office 365
  • Secure encryption through Azure Information Protection
  • Support for more than 270 file formats and 100 languages

OneDrive also offers uninterrupted access to your files, even if your primary computer is unavailable. You can easily save any Microsoft Office document to OneDrive by selecting File > Save As, choosing your OneDrive and then selecting the folder where you want to save the file. You also have the option to automatically synchronize your files and folders with OneDrive to keep the same version on your computer and OneDrive.

As an MSU Denver faculty or staff member, you have unlimited, free access to all courses offered by Lynda.com. To access the OneDrive tutorials, simply click the Lynda.com link on the Faculty and Staff Hub, log in using your NetID and password and type “OneDrive” in the Lynda.com search bar.

Information Technology Services encourages you to use OneDrive for Business to securely save your files. If you want to keep copies of your files on your University-provided computer, ITS suggests that you save them to the following folders:

  • Desktop
  • My Documents
  • My Favorites
  • My Music
  • My Pictures
  • My Videos

In the event your University-provided computer must be replaced, files in these folders will be transferred from your old computer to the new one by ITS technicians. If you synchronize these folders to OneDrive, you can automatically transfer these folders between computers yourself.
