The MSU Denver faculty brain trust reaches almost every corner of the academic spectrum, and we are always proud to see Roadrunners sharing their knowledge. Each month, the Early Bird highlights a few faculty members who have served as subject-matter experts on timely news topics – providing dynamic perspectives on critical issues.

Here’s a sampling from July:

Sheryl Zajdowicz, associate professor of biology, was interviewed July 29 by Fox31 about a possible case of Ebola being evaluated at Denver Health Medical Center and the new nationwide protocols in place to manage such threats.

Kishore Kulkarni, professor of economics, talked with Denverite on July 24 about a recently released income-inequality report and how Colorado stacks up nationally.

Cynthia Erickson, assistant professor of psychology, visited the 9News studio July 18 to discuss “Forgotten Baby Syndrome,” the phenomenon in which stressed, tired or distracted parents accidentally leave their baby in a vehicle.

Kevin Kuhlmann, professor and associate chair of aviation and aerospace science, shared his perspectives on the looming national pilot shortage with Fox News on July 18.

Alex Padilla, associate professor of economics, was invited to the 9News studio July 6 to break down the impact that new U.S. tariffs will have on Colorado jobs and the economy.

Jessica Retrum, associate professor and chair of social work, explained how MSU Denver is supporting underserved rural communities through distance learning via video conferencing with University Business on July 6.
