Rowdy in front of Student Success building. Two volleyball powerhouses are going head-to-head Aug. 15 when Metropolitan State University of Denver hosts Colorado State University in an exhibition match. The event marks the beginning of the MSU Denver volleyball program’s 50th year and is a great way for faculty, staff and fans to dust off their Roadrunner pride.

The MSU Denver volleyball team, under the direction of coach Jenny Glenn, has made 18 consecutive appearances in the NCAA Division II Tournament; CSU has made 23 consecutive NCAA Division I appearances. The event will prep current Roadrunners to bump, set and spike on alumnae players in a friendly match Aug. 18 before the regular season gets underway Aug. 31 when MSU Denver hosts the Colorado Premier Challenge.

A full weekend of 50th-anniversary events will begin Sept. 14 with a match against Colorado Christian University and an alumnae social. A friendly alumnae-vs.-alumnae match and an MSU Denver-Regis University match (and pre-party) Sept. 15 will cap the celebration. Fans can register online to attend 50th-anniversary events.

Single-game tickets are also available now for men’s and women’s soccer.

Aug. 31 marks the beginning of the season for MSU Denver men’s soccer as the team takes on St. Mary’s University (Texas) at the Regency Athletic Complex. MSU Denver women’s soccer hits the field Sept. 1 in its home opener against Dallas Baptist. Fans can catch preseason scrimmages beginning Aug. 15 as well as an alumni doubleheader Aug. 25.

Tickets for all events are available online, and faculty and staff members receive two free tickets at the box office with their MSU Denver ID.

Die-hard fans can also join the Roadrunner Rewards program to earn points each time they support MSU Denver athletics. The app is available for Apple and Android devices, and users can earn prizes based on the number of events they attend. Fun freebies include water bottles and concessions, and the most dedicated fans can earn serious swag such as hoodies and MSU Denver flags.

If you plan to attend a Roadrunner athletic event this season, be sure to let colleagues know in the new MSU Denver Faculty/Staff Facebook group.
