Along with the buzz of activity on campus, a telltale sign that the fall semester is about to start is the arrival of Convocation.
Taking place Aug. 16 from 6 p.m to 8:30 p.m. in the P.E. Events Center, the event, hosted by Roadways, is an official welcome to the Roadrunner community. Far from the stuffy, exclusionary affair favored by some colleges, Metropolitan State University of Denver has adapted Convocation to be as unique and inclusive as our student population. All first-time-to-MSU Denver students – including transfers – and their families/supportive friends are invited to attend this very Roadrunner-esque event.
But there’s one key person we’re counting on to make it a success: you.
This single night can have an enormous impact on a student’s sense of belonging and confidence in the fact that they can achieve their goal of graduation – and there’s no better way to make them feel at home than sharing an evening like this with you.
Our alumni guest speaker, Travis Luther, is the Founder of Luther Media LLC. His companies include Law Father, ValetAds, Queen Anne Pillow Co. and TrialLine. He’s also taught entrepreneurship classes for MSU Denver and sits on the Executive Board of Scholars Unlimited, a Denver nonprofit focused on improving child literacy among low-income and at-risk grade-school children.
Luther will be joined by Provost Vicki Golich, Ph.D., and other senior leaders to sing the MSU Denver fight song, take the Roadrunner pledge and then move the party outside for food, lawn games, a dunk tank and more ways to kick off the year on a high note.
Please bring your colleagues and your own family and join us in welcoming our new group of Roadrunners into the nest to kick off a great new year!
