For educational tech, bolt to COLTT

Conference allows students, faculty to weigh in on hits, misses and the pedagogy of the future.

Metropolitan State University of Denver’s Instructional Design media team is co-sponsoring a student-centered video project as part of this year’s Colorado Learning and Teaching with Technology conference (COLTT) held on the University of Colorado Boulder campus Aug. 1-2.

Working with multiple other higher-education institutions, the team gave students an opportunity to share their educational technology stories in a presentation that will be displayed on the dome of the Fiske Planetarium on Aug. 1. Part of the conference’s popular Café Pédagogique, the session will highlight student experiences with digital technology, including what works, frustrating encounters and postulations of what online education will look like for future Roadrunners.

COLTT provides a valuable opportunity for faculty members throughout the state to exchange ideas in a collegiate setting, said Alex McDaniel, senior instructional designer with MSU Denver and member of the conference committee.

“The sense of community and intellectual sharing fostered at this annual conference extends beyond the boundaries of the localized event,” he said.

Additional presentations from MSU Denver include topics such as open educational resources and innovative Instructional Design practices; other sessions will focus on high-impact practices, accessibility, virtual reality, developing engaging video content and much more.
