Roadrunners Give Back Day

Last Thursday, Roadrunners gave back with some impressive numbers:

  • Close to 250 volunteers participated.
  • Nearly 80 current students took part.
  • 15 alumni came back to give back.
  • 12 faculty members pitched in, including Faculty Senate President Matt Makley.
  • 16 community-partner sites hosted Roadrunners giving back.

“This was about supporting a variety of the nonprofit organizations and community needs that MSU Denver groups care about,” said Gordon Loui, director of strategic partnerships and community engagement who headed up Roadrunners Give Back Day 2018, the Universitywide day of service.

Another result? Breaking routines to interact with others whom they otherwise might not – all in the name of the collective good.

“(RGBD) puts alumni and students and co-workers side-by-side, talking about their experiences at MSU Denver and out in the community,” Loui said. “It’s important to get out of the normal workday environment and bring people together to build those relationships.”
