Our new Director of Undergraduate Studies

Elizabeth Parmelee to lead Provost Office efforts in advising systems, high-impact practices and civic engagement.

Elizabeth Parmelee, Ph.D., has accepted the role of director of undergraduate studies, said Vicki Golich, provost and executive vice president of academic and student affairs.

Along with overseeing centers and programs that involve high-impact practices, including the Applied Learning Center, the Center for Individualized Learning, the Office of International Studies and the Honors Program, she will supervise MSU Denver’s Academic Advising Systems.

Additionally, the Provost Office-based role will develop and implement initiatives based on the American Association of State Colleges and Universities American Democracy Project. The effort is designed to foster meaningful global conversations, civic engagement and learning.

“Elizabeth has extensive knowledge of MSU Denver – its students, faculty and mission,” Golich said. “She has been instrumental in helping many students graduate with meaningful degrees, and her commitment to civic engagement is critically important in our expanding community presence. 

Parmelee has worked at MSU Denver for more than 10 years. Previously the Director of the Center for Individualized Learning, she has collaborated with faculty across the University to create individualized courses of study. She has expanded the program substantially and successfully incubated new degree programs, such as the Fire and Emergency Response Administration degree in the Human Services Department of the College of Professional Studies, Golich said.

“Although I will miss working directly with students on a daily basis, I am looking forward to helping all of the programs in Undergraduate Studies build on their already-remarkable strengths and continue to have an impact on students across the University,” Parmelee said. “I look forward to collaborating with all of our academic units, ensuring every Roadrunner is immersed in high-impact practices and civically engaged members of their communities.”
