Did you volunteer for an advisory council?

Kickoff meetings start as early as this week. Check out the latest update inside.

The president’s advisory councils are up and running with kickoff meetings starting as early as today.

At these meetings, co-leads will facilitate discussion on council charters, principle questions and timelines for this semester’s work. Drafts of those items were presented at the President’s Cabinet meeting Jan. 15. Kickoff meetings are open to all members of the University community.

Below is a current status report for each of the committees. Updated information, including final charters, will be available on the president’s advisory councils webpage. Also, look for occasional reports in the Early Bird.

Academic Excellence and Student Success
Jan. 25
2:30-4 p.m.
CAVEA, SSB 420
The first meeting will tackle questions such as: What is this advisory council actually being asked to do? What are the things it should be considering? How will its members learn what ought to be preserved and what needs to change?

Built Environment and Infrastructure
Core members of this council will meet Friday to select a date for its kickoff meeting. Co-leads have been gathering information regarding complex issues of space usage on the main and south campuses. One of this council’s first tasks will be to develop and launch a community survey.

Culture and the Workplace
Feb. 8
9-11 a.m.
SSB 400
Council membership is open to all employees, so feel free to share with a colleague if they are interested and missed the window to submit their name. Members should be prepared to engage, do some “heavy lifting” and advance the mission of the council.

Fiscal Responsibility
Feb. 1
3:30-4:30 p.m.
SSB 400
During the meeting, council leads will go over the draft charter and seek insight on who might be valuable additions to the steering committee.

Strategy
This council aims to have its steering committee in place by Feb. 1 and then hold an open committee meeting during February. The group’s principle question will be: What is Denver going to look like in the next five, 10, 15 years? The goal is to figure out the external issues that will impact the future direction of the University.

Co-leads are reaching out to volunteers and plan to schedule a kickoff meeting in February.
