Sandi Jones, a former MSU Denver director of human resources and longtime employee, passed way peacefully and surrounded by her family Dec. 31. She was 73.
In 1964, Jones began working for the dean of Adams State College, Keats McKinney, who had been asked to start a new institution of higher learning in Denver: Metropolitan State College. After retirement, Jones focused on helping others in addition to dedicating her time to her family. She was actively involved in 16 charitable organizations and donated to countless other causes. Her primary passion was Hunger Watch, an organization she directed from 2010 until shortly before her death that feeds the needy in Golden.
She is survived by her best friend and husband of 34 years, Stu Jones; her children, Jerry Schloffman and Heather Sauerwein; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and her brother, John Hampton.
