Employees can donate food items or march in the Marade.

January 9, 2018

MLK Peace Breakfast BannerCelebrate the legacy of civil rights leader Martin Luther King Jr. with two upcoming service opportunities.

The first is a food drive. We need your help to reach our goal of collecting 2,018 food items for 2018. The collection will benefit the MSU Denver Food Bank, which serves students who are in need of food and select personal item assistance.

Please drop off nonperishable food items at the donation stations listed on the website by Thursday, Jan. 11. Also, attendees to the sold-out event can bring items to the MLK Peace Breakfast and award presentation on Friday, Jan. 12, at 7:30 a.m.

The second service opportunity is participation in the City of Denver MLK Day activities.

Next Monday, Jan. 15, MSU Denver staff, faculty and students can walk in solidarity in the Marade. This annual 3.1 mile walk begins at City Park and ends at Civic Center Park. The program will begin at 8 a.m., the parade formation begins at 9:30 a.m. and step off is 10 a.m. MSU Denver is one of the Marade sponsors and will be walking with a banner.

If you are interested in marching, please contact Amber Mozet or Yadira Solis.
