Call for Commencement marshals

Here’s how you can help students commemorate an educational milestone.

The Fall 2017 Commencement Ceremonies are fast approaching and we need your assistance in creating a memorable graduation ceremony for our candidates. Because many of you have instructed, advised, and mentored students on their education and life paths, the Commencement Committee would like to invite you to participate in their ceremonies as a commencement marshal this spring.

Marshals are the heart of the ceremony! The ceremony would not be successful without the assistance of our diligent faculty and staff. Our students want to celebrate with you as they complete one journey and begin another.

Please sign up to volunteer and submit your regalia rental form by Nov. 2, 2017 at 6 p.m. The regalia order form is attached. Be sure to follow the link on the form, to submit your order.

We ask and encourage all marshals to spend the whole day with us, but understand if you can only participate in one ceremony. Please be aware we ask all marshal volunteers to report two hours before each ceremony. To recognize your participation as a commencement Marshal, you will be listed in the commencement program.

To volunteer as a marshal, please email the Events Team at commencement@msudenver.edu by Nov. 2, 2017, with the following details:

1. Name and title (ex. M.A., Ph.D.)
   (as you would like it to appear in the program)
2. Department
3. Preference of all day or specific ceremony
4. Preference of marshal position
   (we will do our best to assign within preferences)

We are asking all new marshals to attend a 60-minute Marshal Orientation to learn about commencement; snacks will be provided. Please check your email for upcoming Marshal Orientation dates.

3 p.m. – Ceremony B
College of Letters, Arts, and Sciences
School of Education

The SCHEDULE OF EVENTS for marshals will be:

Dec. 15:
* 6-7 a.m. – Complimentary hot breakfast
* 7 a.m. – Check-In for Ceremony A
* 7:15-7:50 a.m. – Mandatory Rehearsal
* 7:50-8 a.m. – Marshals to positions
* 8-8:45 a.m. – Student Assembly A
* 9-10:45 a.m. – Ceremony A

* 11 a.m.-1 p.m. – Complimentary Lunch

* 1 p.m. – Check-In for Ceremony B
* 1:15-1:50 p.m. – Mandatory Rehearsal
* 1:50-2 p.m. – Marshals to positions
* 2-2:45 p.m. – Student Assembly B
* 3-4:45 p.m. – Ceremony B
