Golightly-Howell named interim executive EO director
Office completes successful hand-off from Percy Morehouse, who retired.

Velveta Golightly-Howell, J.D., M.P.A., recently returned to MSU Denver in the role of interim executive director of equal opportunity, special assistant to the president and Title IX officer.
“I am honored to join MSU Denver, an institution that has continually demonstrated a strong commitment to its students’ educational success and to equity, diversity, and inclusion,” Howell said.
From June 2016 to this past June, Golightly-Howell served as a loaned federal executive to the University. As a senior executive at the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency in Washington, D.C., she directed EPA’s civil-rights and equal-opportunity programs.
Prior to joining EPA, Golightly-Howell’s professional experience included service as a prosecutor, employment attorney, labor lawyer, civil-rights attorney and regional civil-rights director. She is a community activist who has volunteered her time to various causes and initiatives to benefit the public good.
