Matthew KringMatthew Kring, director of MSU Denver’s Student Academic Success Center, was recently published in a prestigious journal focused on urban universities.

Kring’s article, “Supporting College Students Through Peer Mentoring: Serving Immigrant Students,” was published in Metropolitan Universities, a publication of the Coalition of Urban and Metropolitan Universities.

The article highlights the ways MSU Denver is addressing the needs of immigrant students. Kring was approached several years ago about writing for the publication and, after some discussion, settled on the topic.

“Mainly, I wanted to highlight the great work that goes on at MSU Denver, including our fantastic professional and student staff that help students persist and graduate,” Kring said. “I am very proud of the work we do in finding creative ways to address the unique needs of our students. Peer mentoring is a powerful tool, as students rely on each other for meaningful connections and advice.”

MSU Denver hosts the annual CUMU Conference in Denver from Oct. 9 to 11.
