President’s message on Charlottesville
Hate has no place at Metropolitan State University of Denver.
August 16, 2017
Dear MSU Denver community,
Many of us are still processing the troubling events that took place in Charlottesville, Virginia, this weekend, myself included. Given that this tragedy happened in a college town, much like Denver, I thought it appropriate to offer a few words of reassurance to our own community.
Hate has no place at Metropolitan State University of Denver. Racism and bigotry, even when couched as free speech, have no place on our campus. Among our most important core values is a commitment to diversity, and we are dedicated to co-creating an inclusive and respectful learning environment. We’re not always perfect, but we’re continually making strides, sincere in our belief that our differences make us stronger.
My thoughts go out to the community of Charlottesville and the University of Virginia during this difficult time. The faculty, staff and students of MSU Denver stand with you.
Sincerely,
Janine Davidson, Ph.D.
MSU Denver President
