MSU Denver recognized as a Diversity Champion by INSIGHT Into Diversity magazine
August 1, 2017

INSIGHT Into Diversity magazine has recognized MSU Denver as a Diversity Champion institution for the second year in a row.
Diversity Champions exemplify an unyielding commitment to diversity and inclusion throughout their campus communities, across academic programs and at the highest administrative levels, according to Lenore Pearlstein, publisher of INSIGHT Into Diversity.
“MSU Denver is a visionary leader among campus communities striving for diversity and inclusion,” Pearlstein said. “As a Diversity Champion school, MSU Denver exceeds everyday expectations, often eclipsing even its own goals, and develops successful strategies that serve as models of excellence for other higher-education institutions.”
Myron Anderson, associate to the president for diversity, says the award is acknowledgment of the strides the University has made in diversity and inclusion efforts over the past year. Some of these include more than 90 percent of our faculty of color receiving tenure, designing and implementing an anti-workplace-bullying effort to improve climate, leadership in STEM diversity and educational equity, and successful continuation of the effort to achieve Hispanic Serving Institution status.
“This is a great recognition,” Anderson said. “In the spirit of transferring knowledge and contributing to higher education, we have a platform to help other colleges and universities across the country achieve their diversity goals.”
Ten colleges and universities across the nation have received the Diversity Champion designation. Selected institutions rank in the top tier of the Higher Education Excellence in Diversity Award recipients. The HEED Award is presented annually by INSIGHT Into Diversity to recognize colleges and universities that are dedicated to creating a diverse and inclusive campus environment.
“This is meaningful because it’s inclusive,” Anderson added. “The work of the entire MSU Denver community is realized in this award. It’s for all of us.”
