June 26, 2017

It’s official: We have lift-off of the AES building!
At the ribbon-cutting reception last Thursday, Robert Park, director of MSU Denver’s Advanced Manufacturing Sciences Institute kicked off the program to celebrate the building’s opening.
He noted the building will house programs to prepare students for the high-demand technical and manufacturing jobs available in the Colorado economy. He also remarked on the interdisciplinary efforts that led to the structure’s launch.
“When I first came here, I was so impressed with the prospect of collaborating with the faculty, staff and student body,” said Park. “Today is a great day for MSU Denver – and for me personally.”
Park then introduced MSU Denver President Stephen Jordan as the driving force behind the effort.
Jordan thanked the Board of Trustees for its support and acknowledged how industry partners like York Space Systems and Hartwig will help the University prepare its students to enter the workforce created by the area’s economic opportunities.
He then announced a gift of $1 million from Lockheed Martin and an endowed directorship of Advanced Manufacturing Sciences Institute held by Park, before introducing Brian O’Connor, vice president of production at Lockheed Martin. The formal ribbon-cutting and tours of the new building followed, with signage dedicating the institute to the MSU Denver president.
The event cemented the Jordan legacy, which is rooted in aligning industry and education through innovative public-private partnerships.
And at the center of it all? An ongoing commitment to individual and community transformation.
“Who knew we could soar so high?” said Jordan. “Remember – it’s always a great day to be a Roadrunner!”
