LYNDA hasn’t been on campus long, but it’s already popular.

In case you missed it, LYNDA is an online resource that offers hundreds of hours of online tutorials and courses taught by industry experts. Since its launch here at MSU Denver, employees have viewed more than 4,100 LYNDA videos totaling nearly 300 hours of online training and education. It’s a free benefit to employees that can enhance your skills and career that is both flexible and accessible.

The five most popular LYNDA courses among MSU Denver employees are:

  1. Audition CC Essential Training
  2. Photoshop CC 2015 One-on-One Fundamentals
  3. Sharepoint Online Essential Training
  4. Rhino 5 Essential training
  5. Git Essential Training

Courses in LYNDA cover a host of subject areas, including design, information technology, marketing, web, photography, video and more. Each training video also comes with a designation so users can easily determine whether the information is at a beginner, intermediate or advanced skill level.

“It’s an area where they can do some self-paced professional development,” says Danielle Farrell, MSU Denver’s professional development coordinator. “For instance, if they say they want to learn more about SharePoint, they can go right in and learn it at their own pace.”

Access to LYNDA is unlimited and available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The website works on phones, tablets and desktops, too.

LYNDA, which is a product from LinkedIn, also features a playlist function, so employees can search through all the offerings and build their own list of desired trainings.

“LYNDA.com is a flexible resource with content on a variety of topics,” says Evan Bowles, helpdesk manager in ITS. “It’s got thousands of courses on everything from Adobe graphic and video production software to soft skills training like ‘Get Things Done GTD Methodology.’ It even has business tutorials around team building or on developing and measuring key performance indicators. And, it’s not just business topics either. LYNDA.com even has banjo lessons for those looking to pick up a new hobby.”

Until LYNDA, the University had offered online training from Skillsoft, but Human Resources elected to make a change to provide a better online experience. Take advantage of this extraordinary benefit and use it to transform your life.
