Making the honor roll for transfer success

For the second year in a row, MSU Denver is recognized by Phi Theta Kappa’s Transfer Honor Roll for excellence.

MSU Denver is no stranger to transfer student success – and now it has received a spot on the Phi Theta Kappa Transfer Honor Roll for the second year in a row.

This honor society for two-year colleges annually recognizes excellence among baccalaureate-degree-granting institutions. According to Josh Gabrielson, associate director of the Office of Admissions, Transfer Services, the University’s comprehensive dedication is what landed us on the list of 65 nationally-recognized programs.

“From the support found in the Office of Admissions to our persistence and completion-based retention efforts in the Student Academic Success Center, we’re committed to transfer student success,” Gabrielson said. “Across the institution, the policies and commitment are in place to help everyone, from admission to graduation.”

MSU Denver has a long track record of establishing support networks to help our transfer students succeed. Transfer Affinity Groups, or TAGs, are one example of ways for new Roadrunners to build both community and a successful foundation at MSU Denver.

As Gabrielson noted, it’s paid off. MSU Denver has grown into the top institution for transfer students in Colorado. And with the Transfer Honor Roll designation, these efforts have not gone unnoticed on an even bigger stage.

“This award is really a testament to the years of work across the University that’ve gone into supporting our student population,” said Gabrielson. “It’s great to be recognized for that at a national level.”
