Construction or remodeling updates for the Student Success Building, AES Building and Tivoli.

You don’t have to walk far on campus to find construction or remodeling, so we thought we’d update you on some of the University’s current building projects.

The Aerospace and Engineering Sciences Building is on track to be substantially completed by June’s end, says Sean Nesbitt, director of facilities planning. That could mean departments would be ready to move into the building’s first three floors by mid-July with classes beginning in August. The ribbon-cutting ceremony for the building will be June 22.

Next door, the first floor of the Student Success Building is undergoing an extensive remodel that should be largely finished by the end of March. The transformation of the space will include a new call center, student lounge, welcome center desk and a conference room, as well as new furniture and paint throughout. Nesbitt says the goal is to showcase the work during April’s Open House.

Lastly, Nesbitt said plans to redesign part of the Tivoli Student Union should be complete in May. Space near the Tivoli Brewing Company will be prepared for MSU Denver’s brewing program. Completion of that project could come as early as January 2018.

“I think two of those projects – the brewing program and the AES Building – are opportunities to deliver the best academic experience in the state as far as engineering and brewing,” Nesbitt says. “For the Student Success Building, the focus has been on giving our students a more inviting space to call home. It’s a commuter campus, so we’re trying to provide space for them to collaborate, hang out and relax.”
