From photojournalism to English education to aviation technology classrooms, current Roadrunners and an alumnus are honored.

Photojournalism senior Sara Hertwig’s photos of the Dakota Access Pipeline protests were featured on the National Press Photographer’s Association’s Instagram recently. Since 1946 the NPPA has been dedicated to the advancement of visual journalism and to promoting its role as a vital public service.

MSU Denver’s student affiliate chapter of the National Council of Teachers of English received the Student Affiliate Chapter Excellence Award for the fourth consecutive year. English education majors Marrena Martinez, Allison Joyce and Mary Damron accepted the award at the NCTE annual conference in Atlanta Nov. 20. NCTE is devoted to improving the teaching and learning of English and language arts at all levels of education.

Alumnus Dylan Harlan (B.S. aviation technology ’15) was named in Aviation Pro’s “2016 Airport Business Top 40 under 40” article on Nov. 10. The magazine recognizes up-and-coming industry leaders who are making a difference in their organization and the aviation industry. Harlan turned his internship with XJet at Centennial Airport into a sales associate role, which then turned into a promotion as a member relations manager.
