With the holidays almost here, it’s a good time to take advantage of this collaboration between the Health Center and Nutrition Department.
The Health Center at Auraria is partnering with the Department of Nutrition to offer FREE nutritional counseling services with a registered dietitian to all faculty and staff as well as students.
Cynthia Gillette Dormer, associate professor in the Department of Nutrition, will serve as the RD for the fall and spring semesters. She holds a master’s and doctoral degree in nutrition, and has taught Nutrition Education and Counseling for three years and Nutrition and Weight Management for seven years at the University. In her work at the Health Center at Auraria, she specializes in helping people find their own motivators and develop their own specific plans for wellness and for treating their conditions nutritionally.
This program is not only a service to people interested or needing nutritional advice from an RD, but serves as an educational program for nutrition student interns. With the patient’s permission, nutrition students work with Dormer in providing nutrition counseling, assessment, diagnoses, intervention, monitoring and evaluation.
