Personal Biography

I teach the history of Medieval England, Medieval Europe, History of European Women, Medieval World, World Civilizations to 1500, and Women in World History. I am from the Denver area and have taught at Metro since 2006. Teaching under the shadow of the mountains is truly the best place to be!

Teaching Philosophy

My teaching interests include women and gender, philosophy, and the craft of history writing. I am interested in exploring the cultural history of the medieval and early modern periods, particularly as these cultural ideas relate to the larger political and intellectual forces of the period.

My research interests include the intersections between gender and intellectual history, with a particular focus on women and their impact on historical writing. I am also interested in mysticism, particularly as it relates to philosophical, intellectual, and gendered identities.

Current/Selected Projects

Currently, I am working on projects surrounding a text in Medieval World History, the use of graphic novels in history classrooms, and PTSD and medieval Crusade veterans.

Advising: I do History Major/Minor advising. Please email me to set an appointment. I encourage all majors and minors to see an adviser at least once per year.
